A magnificent example of the classical form. Having a rectangular top with square edges above a mortise and tenon skirt, standing on four square to round tapered legs with a “signature” collar at the transition. Maple and pine retaining an original red painted surface, the top work surface was given a coat of varnish at a later date.  Of an unusual large size, though with excellent proportions.
Enfield or Canterbury, New Hampshire.  Circa 1840.
H. 31 1/8”, l. 38 1/8”, d. 23 1/4”
