Retaining an old or original red painted surface with a red, white and blue Quartermasters symbol painted on the upper facia of the chest. The interior of the dovetailed box is fitted with an novel sliding till/storage box arrangement and a mortised lid support. New England, probably Connecticut. Circa 1810.
